The intricately woven story revolves around three characters- Edmund Exley(Guy Pearce), a young ,ambitious and disciplined detective;Officer Bud White(Russell Crowe), a seasoned and strong-willed officer ; and Jack Vincennes(Kevin Spacey),a narcotics detective who regularly tips off the editor of tabloid magazine “Hush-Hush”, in exchange for money, while making celebrity arrests in order to increase the popularity of the magazine.
The movie was nominated for nine Academy Awards, and won Best Supporting Actress for Kim Basinger, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
